Role: Project Architect while at MBI Companies for the interior renovation of the City of Chattanooga Mayor’s Conference Room, focusing on finishes, lighting upgrades, integrated IT presentation systems, acoustic improvements, and new furnishings.
Design Intent: Located within a historic building, the design carefully balances modernization with preservation. Finishes and furnishings were selected to respect the original architectural character while subtly refreshing the space to support contemporary civic functions.
Movable tables were introduced to provide flexibility and accommodate multiple room configurations, supporting a range of meeting and presentation formats. Rich, deep bronze tones were selected to complement the existing wood paneling, reinforcing a sense of formality and warmth.
Acoustic performance was enhanced through stretch-fabric wrapped panels, allowing for seamless integration within the historic detailing. Large, ornate chandeliers were retained and emphasized, complementing the existing crown molding and the room’s elevated ceiling height while reinforcing its civic presence.
